Do I need a Qatar e-Visa for a layover in Qatar?
No. You cannot use a Qatar e-visa for transit in Qatar. The Qatar electronic visa is issued for either tourism or business purposes. If your intention is to transit through Qatar without leaving the airport, you do not need a visa. Qatar uniquely allows transit passengers to remain within the airport's transit area without holding any type of Qatar visa.
However, if your layover involves a desire to join a city tour of Doha, a visa is required. This encompasses various visa types like transit visas or visas on arrival. Notably, Qatar Airways passengers with a layover of at least five hours at Hamad International Airport are eligible for a Qatar transit visa. This visa is free of charge to passengers from all nationalities and valid for up to 96 hours.
To apply for a Qatar transit visa, you need to obtain the following documents:
- To enter Qatar, your passport should have a validity of at least 6 months beyond your arrival date.
- Additionally, you need to provide a legible copy of your passport, along with confirmed tickets for both your entry into Qatar and your subsequent departure. Notably, both flights must be operated by Qatar Airways.
- To facilitate this process, passengers are required to possess an approved transit visa copy during both boarding and arrival procedures in Qatar.
