Do I need a transit visa if I have a connecting flight in Qatar?
You do not need a transit visa if you stay inside the airport and your layover is less than 24 hours. You may be eligible for a free Qatar transit visa if your layover is between five and up to 96 hours, provided that it is on Qatar Airways. If you do not qualify for visa-free entry, you can get a transit visa at the Discover Qatar Transit Desk located inside Hamad International Airport (HIA).
Stay longer than 96 hours, and you have to apply for a normal tourist visa. The U.S. passport holders who have at least six months' validity and a return or onward ticket are eligible to get a visa upon arrival. Travellers can also apply for an e-visa via the website of the Qatar Immigration Service.
